Monday is the day of the moon and everything associated with it. The moon shines brightly at night yet it produces no light of it's own as it reflects the light of the sun. This is symbolic of passivity and receptiveness which is why the moon is usually considered to be feminine in nature and is associated with women and the subconscious mind. The moon controls a woman's menstrual cycles and the emotions of humans on a personal and collective level. These characteristics are why the following traits are considered the realm of the moon: Clarity, emotion, subtlety, intuition, psychic ability, fertility, receptivity, mysticism, and illumination. Some of the goddesses that are associated with the moon are Auset (Isis), Ishtar, Yemaya, Selene, Diana, Kuan Yin, The Virgin Mary, and Artemis. The element that corresponds to the moon is water. All sea creatures, particularly those with shells are governed by the moon. Astrologically the moon rules the sign Cancer - The Crab. The moon also rules creatures of the night such as bats, owls, cats, moths, and wolves. In alchemy the moon is associated with the metal silver. Silver is bright and reflective like the moon and it has the highest level of conductivity out of all the metals, even more so than copper. If you are working with the moon in your magic practices Monday is the most powerful day you can do it. Other powerful times are during the hour of the moon, the new moon, and the full moon.
